PREFERENSI TAKMIR MASJID DALAM MEMILIH LAYANAN PERBANKAN DI SURABAYA
(A QUALITATIVE MULTIPLE CASE STUDY DI DELAPAN MASJID)

ABSTRACT
In Surabaya, some mosques still place their fund in the several conventional banks which are prohibited in Islam. According to such fact, the purpose of this research is revealing the preference of mosque committee in selecting banking service.
            A qualitative approach is applied in this research with descriptive narrative analysis based on preference and consumer decision making theory. To determine the informants - 19 persons mosque committee in eight mosques: National Al-Akbar Mosque, Al-Falah Mosque, Mujahidin Mosque, Rahmat Mosque, At-Taqwa Mosque, Baiturrahman Mosque, An-Nuur Mosque, Nuril Iman Mosque – this research uses purposive sampling technique to be deeply interviewed, observed, and triangulated in order to gain valid data.
            This research results the finding of the needs of mosque committee in using banking service such as 1) Saving Service, 2) Transfer Service, 3) Money Shuttling Service, 4) Banking Infrastructures, and 5) Partnership Services. The keywors of the motives of mosque committees in selecting banking service based on Karim and Affif’s theory and Psychographic Values theory are convenience, security, and service. Meanwhile, their orientation in selecting banking services comprises 1) Essentially Islamic Banking, 2) Follower, 3) Functional and 4) Obligatory. There are three types of preference of mosque committee, those are 1) The preference in Islamic bank only, 2) The preference in conventional bank only, 3) The preference in both of conventional and Islamic bank which shaped by three factors such as 1) The knowledge and experience of mosque committee in Islamic Banking, 2) The approach of banks, and 3) The government intervention which the knowledge and experience factor has the most dominant role in shaping the preference.
